Xavier Rudd performing at at Paard
Australian soulful surf/roots singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Xavier Rudd, and his support act Ben Howards will be gracing the stage of The Hague's popular live music venue Paard van Troje on Tuesday 16 February.
Rudd has developed a strong reputation for his live performances at musical festivals and concerts in Australia and in North America, his following particularly strong in Australia and in Canada.
Many of Rudd's songs incorporate socially conscious themes, such as environmentalism and the rights of Aboriginal people. They tell of humanity, spirituality or the environment. The songs are written and sung with compassion and they urge the celebration of life.
"Rudd’s music is compassionate and always manages to render emotion in his fans" (last.fm).
Rudd has included both Australian and Canadian Aboriginal vocals in some of his songs, as well as playing the Australian wood instrument, the didgeridoo.
Rudd has recorded several albums to date, including 'Food in the Belly' (2005-2006), 'White Moth' (2007) and 'Dark Shades of Blue' (2008).
"Bright sunny skies, white sand beaches and rolling turquoise waves is where Xavier Rudd is currently recording his next musical work and the setting couldn’t be better for this next selection of songs. Back in 301 Studios in Byron Bay Australia, Xavier is putting the finishing touches on his latest album “Koonyum Sun” and his first recording with a South African rhythm section comprised of Tio Moloantoa on Bass and Andile Nqubezelo on Drums formerly of the late Lucky Dube’s band."
