Hereby we present you with five interesting events we have chosen for you. You can visit Omniversum to see the new film 'Sea Monsters'. Later on you can visit beach resort Kijkduin to visit an exhibition called 'Echoes from the Sea'. This weekend there is also a Zeehelden Festival, on the 'Square with turtles'. You can also try visiting The Hague by the carriage or visit Caribbean party on the beach on sunday.
Anyway if any item from our selection does not appeal to you, check our weekly calendar which lists all cultural events in The Hague and surroundings.

Sea Monsters
From June 29 until September Omniversum will be showing 'Sea Monsters', a photo-realistic computer-generated animation transports audiences back to the Late Cretaceous when a great inland sea divided North America in two.

The film follows a curious and adventurous dolichorhynchops – familiarly known as a 'Dolly' – as she travels through the most dangerous oceans in history. Along the way she encounters long-necked plesiosaurs, giant turtles, enormous fish, fierce sharks, and the most dangerous sea monster of all, the Mosasaur.

Sea Monsters weaves together a series of paleontological digs from around the globe in a compelling story about scientists working as detectives to answer questions about this ancient and mysterious ocean world.

Where: Omniversum. President Kennedylaan 5, The Hague
Tickets: €9,75; children under 12 - €7,50

Biennale Kijkduin: Echoes from the Sea

From 13 June to 5 July 2009 the international Biennale Kijkduin art event will showcase glass, light and nature.

More than 20 artists from eight different countries found inspiration in the natural elements of Kijkduin, the southern beach resort of The Hague. Boulevard and dunes showcase a total collection of monumental glass, light and sound installations, sculptures, performances, videos and film documentaries.

The exhibition takes place in Kijkduin where nature, peacefulness and reflection set the atmosphere.

The theme ‘Echoes of the Sea’ refers to the mythical characteristics that are attributed to the sea: the sea as the womb of all life, the perpetual wash of the waves, the cycle of ebb and flow, and last but not least the sound of the breakers that rushes towards the beach and dunes like an ‘echo’.

The art collection, performances, film program, tours, lectures, photo contests, bicycle tour, and an Educational Program make Biennale Kijkduin 2009 an interactive arts event, designed to introduce visitors of all ages to glass, light and nature experiences in the cultural beach resort of Den Haag.

More information may be found at the Biennale Pavilion which also houses a film and video room and a library. The catalogue ‘Echoes of the Sea’ is available at the reception.

Zeehelden Festival
For the past 29 years on the Prins Hendrikplein (Square with turtles) the small neighbourhood festival called Zeehelden Festival has been organised.
What started as just a small neighbourhood party, within years has expanded into a lengthy festival filled in with street theatre, world music, local and national bands. There is also a flea market as well as many other interesting activities for children and adults.

From Wednesday, 1 July in the noon until 13.00 on Sunday, 5 July this usually quiet and cozy square will turn into the very lively place. The theme of this year's festival will be Together Neighbours 'Samen Buren', because in Dutch language the verb 'buren' (to neighbour) is a sort of living together - and this you cannot do alone. This theme will be visible in some parts of the programme.
