New Student Flats Lose Backer
(21 October 2009)
Hundreds of student flats duet to be built near the Hague college of further education, the Haagse Hoge School, have lost their financial backer. Housing corporation Haagwonen has withdrawn from the project after initially promising € 51 million for the construction of 460 student flats on the corner of Calandstraat and the Van der Kunstraat.
The organisers, Duwo Student Accommodation, now has to look for a new source of finance before the scheme can be carried out. They will, however, be starting on another project to build between 500 and 600 student flats in two tower blocks near Hollands Spoor Station in the spring.
