Construction in Vlietland may begin

(Thu 22 July 2010)

After years of planning and lawsuits, the state council of Leidschendam-Voorburg has determined that the construction works in the recreation area of Vlietland may begin. Over a hundred and twenty recreational apartments, a hundred more bungalows, two restaurants and parking spaces have been given the green light to be built in the nature area.

The organisation Friends of Vlietland, who has campaigned against the plan for years, were deeply disappointed with the news. They declared that the research made on the effects of the air quality and nature tax wasn’t complete yet. The high court has brushed aside these objections.
