According to the latest Gallup World Poll, the Dutch are among the happiest people in the world. The Netherlands joins the 4th rank with Sweden. Denmark, Finland and Norway made the top three respectively. Some 68% of the Dutch consider themselves to be happy, compared with 82% of the Danes.

Researchers polled respondents by asking them to reflect on the overall satisfaction with their lives. Researchers were able to score their daily experiences such as whether they feel well-rested, respected and intellectually engaged among others.

The poll was carried out in 155 countries between 2005 and 2009.
