TEDx The Hague Beyond Uncertainty @ Louwman Museum (7 November 2026)

TEDx The Hague Beyond Uncertainty @ Louwman Museum (7 November 2026)

TEDxTheHague returns this November with its annual flagship event. The theme this year is Beyond Uncertainty, bringing together speakers, ideas and curious minds to explore how we can navigate an increasingly unpredictable world.

From rapid technological change and geopolitical tension to climate disruption, economic uncertainty and social change, many of the systems we once relied on feel less predictable. Rather than offering easy answers, Beyond Uncertainty asks what happens when we acknowledge that we do not have all the answers and begin looking at uncertainty differently.

Through TEDx talks and shared conversation, the afternoon will explore how we can move beyond fear, paralysis and polarisation towards greater clarity, courage and possibility. The event is also an opportunity to meet others interested in fresh perspectives, meaningful conversations and ideas worth spreading.

The speaker line-up is still to be announced. Doors open at 13:30, with the programme running from 14:00 to 18:00 at the Louwman Museum. Tickets are now available and places are limited.

Curated Sunday Practice: Explore Movement with Dance Bunch @ Cloud/danslab (6 + 13 + 27 September 2026)

Curated Sunday Practice: Explore Movement with Dance Bunch @ Cloud/danslab (6 + 13 + 27 September 2026)

Dance Bunch is a dance community founded in The Hague in 2022, and they are launching a new series of Sunday sessions inviting people to explore movement, creativity and physical practice together.

Curated Sunday Practice is open to all levels, from complete beginners to experienced and professional dancers. Rather than working towards a performance or finished result, the two-hour sessions focus on the process itself: exploring movement, developing awareness, using your imagination and discovering your own relationship with physical practice.

Each Sunday features a different invited artist, who shares elements of their own physical practice, research and approach to movement. Participants are encouraged to explore at their own pace, with space for both individual discovery and shared practice.

The sessions are also an opportunity to meet others in The Hague’s dance and movement community in an informal and welcoming setting.

Whether you have never danced before, have some previous experience or work professionally, Curated Sunday Practice offers a chance to step away from everyday routines and spend two hours focusing fully on movement, perception and exploration.

Girl with a Pearl Earring travels to Japan as The Hague strengthens ties on culture, cybersecurity and local leadership

Girl with a Pearl Earring travels to Japan as The Hague strengthens ties on culture, cybersecurity and local leadership

The Hague’s world-renowned Girl with a Pearl Earring is travelling to Japan this week, accompanied by a delegation from the city led by Mayor Jan van Zanen. While Johannes Vermeer’s masterpiece will take centre stage in Osaka, the visit will also open doors for new cooperation between The Hague’s peace and justice ecosystem and Japan and South Korea.

In Osaka, Johannes Vermeer’s masterpiece will take centre stage in the exhibition Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring: Dutch Masterpieces of the 17th Century. Van Zanen will attend the official opening on Thursday.

The Girl’s visit is part of a wider mission connecting The Hague with partners across Japan and South Korea.

In Japan, Van Zanen will meet Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and the mayors of Osaka and Kyoto, Hideyuki Yokoyama and Koji Matsui. The meetings will focus, among other topics, on the role cities and local governments can play in addressing international challenges. The programme also includes a visit to the Kyoto Museum for World Peace.

In South Korea, the focus will expand to cybersecurity as an important part of The Hague’s peace and justice ecosystem. Meetings in Seoul will explore opportunities for cybersecurity companies considering European expansion and a potential presence in The Hague. Mayor Van Zanen will also meet former judges who have worked in The Hague, reinforcing the longstanding ties between South Korea and the city’s international legal community.

Van Zanen will visit WeGO, the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization, and travel to Daejeon for meetings with the city’s mayor and KAIST, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

The longstanding connection between The Hague and South Korea will be marked with a wreath-laying at the Yi Jun Memorial in Seoul. Korean diplomat Yi Jun travelled to The Hague in 1907 during the Second Hague Peace Conference and died in the city.

From Vermeer in Osaka to cybersecurity in Seoul, the mission uses longstanding international ties to explore new partnerships – while one of The Hague’s most famous residents enjoys a temporary stay in Japan.

Girl with a Pearl Earring

The Girl with a Pearl Earring will be on display at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka from 21 August to 27 September 2026, alongside eleven other works from the Mauritshuis collection.

The exceptional loan coincides with the temporary closure of the Mauritshuis. The painting rarely leaves The Hague but has previously travelled to Japan during the renovation of the museum between 2012 and 2014.
