Last week, Alderman Van Asten performed the official and festive act at new construction project De Groene Prins The Hague on Groen van Prinstererlaan in The Hague. He did this together with board chairman Haag Wonen Mohamed Baba, the development team of Damlaan Ontwikkeling and the construction team of Van Rhijn Bouw.

‘With The Green Prince The Hague, we are not only adding sustainable housing to The Hague, but also quality of life. Here, on the spot where the garden centre stood for years, a beautiful new piece of city is now rising. Well-insulated, gas-free and ready for the future. And all that close to the beach. This project shows how we are working together towards a The Hague in which everyone can live comfortably,’ says Alderman Van Asten.

Damlaan Ontwikkeling BV, in cooperation with SDJ Vastgoedontwikkeling and De Groene Prins Den Haag, has designed this new addition to The Hague. For the former site of Tuincentrum Hanenburg, a plan has been developed that provides 13 energy-efficient owner-occupied houses, 55 rental flats with an underground garage and a communal courtyard garden.
The design is by Dennis Hofman and Peter Jollie of Architektenkombinatie. Van Rhijn Bouw will realise the project. Housing corporation Haag Wonen will manage the rental of the flats.

Board chairman Haag Wonen, Mohamed Baba: ‘We are happy to be building 55 rental flats here. The task is big, resources are limited and every new home counts. Corporations, developers, investors and municipalities desperately need each other. It is great that we find each other here in De Groene Prins Den Haag.’

De Groene Prins The Hague will be built on the site of the former garden centre at Groen van Prinstererlaan 245 in The Hague, which has served at this location for over 40 years.

During the festive gathering to mark the official start of construction, Alderman Van Asten celebrated this milestone in the presence of the buyers and all parties and interested parties involved in this project.

Sustainable
De Groene Prins The Hague is a new part of The Hague where careful thought has been given to sustainable construction and future-oriented living. Naturally, the homes will be delivered gas-free and almost energy-neutral (BENG).

100% sold | rental flats will start after completion
All owner-occupied homes have been sold. After completion of De Groene Prins The Hague, the rental flats will be added to Woonnet Haaglanden. This is where the full range of social rental properties of Haag Wonen and the other housing associations in the Haaglanden region can be found.

Haag Wonen
Haag Wonen is a purely Hague-based housing corporation that stands for good living in The Hague for people with a modest income. Haag Wonen rents out over 21,000 social housing units. As a partner in the city, Haag Wonen works with residents and collaborative partners to build a beautiful city in which everyone can participate. Haag Wonen is committed to making homes more sustainable and building extra social housing. So that more house seekers can be helped to find an affordable, energy-efficient and comfortable home.

Van Rhijn Bouw B.V.
The project will be realised by Van Rhijn Bouw B.V., an all-round construction company active in new construction, property development, maintenance, renovation and conversion. With more than 50 years of experience in the trade, they have realised numerous appealing projects. With the third generation at the helm of the family business, they can say that building is in their blood. Sustainability in the team, relationships and materials is paramount. Investing in the future, in other words.
