Special edition of The Hague walking party with DJ, mascot and more
The Avond4daagse in The Hague will be extra festive this year. From May 19 to 22, the annual walking festival will once again bring hundreds of children and adults together to walk each evening. And this edition promises to be more special than ever thanks to a collaboration between insurer asr and the Royal Dutch Walking Association (KWbN). As in previous years, exercise and conviviality are central, but this year there will be extra attention for festive decorations with a DJ, mascot and cheerful decorations.
With hundreds of children participating each year, the Avond4daagse is a household name in The Hague. The festive atmosphere is palpable everywhere this year. On the second evening, there is an extra party and participants end the walking party under a colorful party arch, a cheerful entrance gate that immediately sets the tone. Along the way, a walking DJ provides catchy music, which keeps the energy up and motivates children to continue walking. Of course, there is singing and dancing to the new official Avond4daagse song, sung by Sarita Lorena. Mascot Fiero, the familiar face of the Avond4daagse, also walks along the route. He waves, hands out high-fives and is happy to pose for a photo that is captured with a Polaroid camera for a tangible memory of the festive walking adventure.
Moving together, having fun together
This special edition is part of the broader collaboration between asr and KWbN. Both organizations are committed to getting children moving in an accessible way, with fun as the most important ingredient. “For so many children, the Avond4daagse is a first sporting achievement that they look back on with pride,” says Hella de Weger, brand & marketing communications director at asr. “We want to make this experience even more fun by adding even more conviviality along the way, without detracting from the walking itself.” “The Avond4daagse lets children experience in a playful way how fun and healthy walking is,” adds Gijs Janssen, director-manager of KWbN. “And they will carry that fun with them for the rest of their lives!”
Walking party for everyone
This year, the Avond4daagse will take place in The Hague from Monday 19 to Thursday 22 May, at the initiative of the walking association “Sterker Door Strijd.” “We think it is important that we contribute to this event that brings young and old together,” De Weger continues. By making the Avond4daagse extra festive, both the local organisation is strengthened and the enthusiasm for walking is increased, so that this important tradition lives on in all corners of the Netherlands. “It is great that we can support local volunteers and organisers in The Hague and in hundreds of other places in the country in this way. In this way, the Avond4daagse grows into an even more fun and local party that really connects people,” says Gijs Janssen.
