The KJ bicycle shed is reopening! From Saturday 22 March 2025, cyclists will be able to park in the underground bicycle shed again. The shed was closed in October 2023 for safety reasons during the construction of the city entrance, but can now be partially put back into use.
In the temporary situation, there is room for approximately 1,650 bicycles. In addition, there is room for shared bicycles and public transport bicycles. Part of the bicycle shed will remain closed due to the construction work above. As a result, there is unfortunately no room for cargo bicycles due to the limited storage space. These can go to the Anna van Bueren or bicycle parking spaces on the Zwarteweg/Oranjebuitensingel.
Alderman Kapteijns (Mobility): ‘We are happy that we can partially reopen this bicycle shed. Cycling is a sustainable and healthy way to travel to the station, and good parking is essential. With this reopening, we are taking a great step forward. The full opening will take some time, but we will continue to work for sufficient and safe parking facilities in our city.’

Entrance temporarily moved
The entrance to the parking facility is temporarily located on the side of the Central Station. Cyclists can reach the moving walkways to the parking facility via the Rijnstraat via a walking route. Because the route to the station is different, visitors are advised to plan extra travel time.
Stichthage bicycle shed temporarily closed for modernization
From 1 April, the Stichthage bicycle shed, under Central Station, will be temporarily closed for a thorough renovation. ProRail is modernising the bicycle shed for an improved user and traveller experience. The work on the Stichthage shed is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. OV-fiets users, season ticket holders and other travellers can use the KJ shed. The Fiets & Service shop can also be found in the KJ shed from Saturday 22 March.
Amare also open
Being able to park your bike easily and close to your destination encourages more residents to cycle. The municipality will work on more and good bicycle parking spaces in the coming years. All public bicycle parking facilities in The Hague are free and guarded for the first 24 hours. In addition to the reopening of the KJ parking facility, the parking facility under Amare has also been opened. When visiting the city centre, everyone can also safely park their bike here.
