The first six locations of Werkcentrum Haaglanden opened today in The Hague, Delft, Rijswijk, Westland and Midden-Delfland. Werkcentrum Haaglanden is the central location where workers, job seekers and employers can go for questions and advice about work, career and development and for offering vacancies. Municipalities and UWV work together with other partners in the labour market, such as trade unions, employers’ organisations, educational institutions and the Cooperation Organisation for Vocational Education and Business.
Alderman Nur Icar (Work): “It’s great that we’re bringing together the services of all partners in the labour market in one place with the Werkcentrum Haaglanden. By joining forces, we’re making access to knowledge and help for our residents as easy as possible. Whether you’re looking for a job or want to offer a vacancy.”
One-stop shop for everything about work and education
Anyone can drop by Werkcentrum Haaglanden without an appointment from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00. An advisor is always available in the work centre to help visitors and discuss the possibilities in the field of work, learning and development. The work centre employee talks to visitors about talents, qualities and interests and immediately sets out concrete next steps. Werkcentrum Haaglanden can also be visited online via www.werkcentrumhaaglanden.nl .
“The current tight labor market calls for a single point of contact where we bring together our labor market services for citizens and employers. That is exactly what we do with Werkcentrum Haaglanden. We make all services accessible to people who are looking for help and advice in the field of work, education and income and ensure that they leave with a perspective,” says Dennis de Jong, regional manager UWV Haaglanden.
Collaboration for residents and employers
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has asked the labor market regions to ensure that there is a work center in all 35 labor market regions by January 1, 2026 at the latest. This should lead to improved cooperation between the various partners in the labor market. In the Haaglanden region, the municipalities of The Hague, Delft, Rijswijk, Westland and Midden-Delfland and UWV are working together with the trade unions CNV and FNV, VCP De Unie, employers’ organizations MKB and VNO/NCW, SBB and educational institutions ROC Mondriaan and VSO Pro at six locations. This means that there is always a work center nearby. More locations will be added in the future.
