Exploring the canals of The Hague in a sporty and sustainable way? It’s possible again! The municipality of The Hague and kiteboardschool.nl are organizing the fourth edition of the successful Sup campaign from May to September. During these months, residents of The Hague can paddle for free and at the same time contribute to a cleaner city.
Alderman Kapteijns (Raw Materials) is pleased with the success and continuation: ‘This year too, residents can help keep the canals of The Hague clean. During a tour, a lot of waste is removed from the water, and we will continue to do so. With this action, we show that sustainability and fun go well together. In this way, together we make a difference in a fun way.’
New this year is the boarding location in the Binckhorst. In addition to the familiar departure point at Madurodam, participants can now also enter the water from Brouwerij Kompaan on Saturnusstraat.
Cleaning up litter from your SUP board
Litter in the waters of The Hague is a growing problem with harmful consequences for the environment and the quality of life. With the Sup campaign, the municipality and kiteboardschool.nl are tackling this problem in an accessible and active way. Participants go into the water armed with a paddle and litter grabber and remove waste from the canals before it sinks or disintegrates into microplastics.
For everyone with a swimming diploma
Everyone is welcome to join, whether it’s your first time on a SUP board or you already have experience. The condition is that participants have a swimming diploma A. SUP is possible on Wednesdays from the Binckhorst and on Saturdays from the Voskade at Madurodam. Suppers will be loaned a SUP board and cleaning materials on site.
