The Municipality of The Hague is supporting 22 small-scale public events and festivals with a total of €310,000 in funding. The support comes from the second round of the city’s subsidy scheme for smaller public events.
In May, the municipal executive decided to increase the 2026 budget ceiling for the scheme by an additional €130,000. The events receiving support in this round will take place between July and December 2026.
Alderman Saskia Bruines said events and festivals help keep the city vibrant and attractive.
“Events and festivals make The Hague lively and appealing. They bring people together, create opportunities for connection, culture and enjoyment, and show how diverse our city is. From major crowd-pullers to small neighbourhood initiatives, these events bring energy to the city while also making an important contribution to the local economy. That is why we continue supporting organisers, so that The Hague can remain vibrant throughout the year.”
Organisers could apply for a maximum contribution of €20,000 for free events and up to €10,000 for paid events.
Well-known events receiving support include the Prinsjesfestival and the Summertime Festival. The Opschepperij in Scheveningen will receive support for the second year in a row. New additions in this funding round include Market Mayhem and the Free State Jazz Festival.
The highest contributions of €20,000 each were awarded to PrinsjesNach, Summertime Festival, Prinsjesfestival, Market Mayhem, Green Waves and Jazz en Route. Wild Rooster Festival received €17,500, while Zingen aan Zee received €16,500 and De Opschepperij received €16,000. Free State Jazz Festival was awarded €15,000 and Fat Air €18,909.
