Preparations for the October 29th House of Representatives elections are in full swing. To ensure the smooth voting and counting process, a total of approximately 4,000 people are needed. Starting September 24th, residents of The Hague could register as volunteers for various positions at polling stations and counting locations. Within a week, almost all positions at the polling stations were filled, with over 80% of them already filled after the first day. It is now only possible to register as a counter or reserve.
So far, a total of 3,073 residents have signed up as volunteers. 795 municipal employees have also signed up. Municipal employees can still apply for various behind-the-scenes positions.
More than 250 polling stations
The volunteers are deployed at more than 250 polling stations across The Hague. This year, several youth polling stations will be operating again. In 2023, Stagehuis Schilderswijk came up with the idea of having young people take over a polling station. This led to the “Own Your Polling Station” initiative, in collaboration with the municipality of The Hague. These Own Your Polling Stations are located at five locations: Theater de Vaillant (organized by Stagehuis Schilderswijk), The Hague University of Applied Sciences, InHolland, ROC Mondriaan Aspasialaan, and Wijkz Moerwijk. At these locations, young people are polling station members, provide pre-promotion, and decorate the polling stations.
