Scheveningen Dorp was abuzz with celebration on 5 March when alderman Kapteijns officially opened the new roundabout at the former intersection Duinstraat/ Prins Willemstraat/ Badhuisstraat and Scheveningseweg. To celebrate this milestone, he treated those present to a piece of delicious ‘roundabout cake’.

Work on the intersection of Duinstraat/Prins Willemstraat/ Badhuisstraat and Scheveningseweg began in July 2024. During this period, the tram tracks were renewed and made fit for the future. In addition, the traffic situation changed dramatically: the former intersection was transformed into a roundabout, significantly improving traffic safety and flow. During the work, sewerage and water pipes were also replaced.

Alderman Kapteijns (Mobility): ‘As a municipality, we are grateful to the residents for their patience during the work. With this roundabout, we are making Scheveningen more beautiful and safer for everyone.’

With the completion of this project, the municipality of The Hague is taking an important step in improving infrastructure and road safety in Scheveningen.
