How do you show the diversity and impact of a student city? With a tableau vivant – living painting – student city The Hague iconically showed itself as a contemporary ‘Night Watch’. Symbolism: guardians watching over the future and, as a new (knowledge) generation, contributing to innovation and social progress.
Administrators of educational institutions, student associations and the municipality gathered at the HI The Hague Student Experience yesterday – part of the Liberation Festival for and by students. Together, they created a picture of cooperation and solidarity. Education alderman Hilbert Bredemeijer: ‘Students belong to The Hague and are of great importance for the future of the city and the whole world. The Hague is the international city of peace and justice and students in particular contribute to this and guard these important values. Very nice and appropriate to celebrate this on Liberation Day with The Hague students themselves.’
The Hague Student City celebrates 80 years of freedom
In The Hague, the city of peace and justice, we know how important freedom is. Freedom, including the freedom to study, is not taken for granted everywhere. That is why student city The Hague comes together every year in the HI The Hague Student Experience to celebrate our freedom together. This year, students from The Hague celebrated ‘80 years of freedom’ in many forms. With stands of student associations, with social, sports and artistic activities and, of course, with music by promising student DJs! In short: a festive day when student city The Hague comes together to celebrate freedom together. For now and for the future.
