From March 2nd to 26th, the Belastingdienst-bus will be traveling throughout the Netherlands again. On Monday, March 2nd, the bus will make its first stop at Grote Marktstraat/Wagenstraat 32 in The Hague.
The bus is available for anyone who needs some extra help filing their income tax return. You can file your tax return starting March 1st. The bus offers free answers to many general questions about your tax return. If your question cannot be answered on the spot, staff will refer you to the appropriate assistance, such as a handy checklist on belastingdienst.nl or an appointment at a library or tax office near you.
You can visit the bus between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Assistance is free, and no appointment is necessary and support is provided in Dutch. The bus also stops in 15 other cities, including Heerhugowaard, Roermond, and Groningen. This is the third year the bus has been operating throughout the Netherlands, providing personalised local assistance to residents and businesses.
“We all file income tax returns,” says Bjorn Meijer, Director of Services at the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. “This year, we’re once again offering a helping hand to those who need it. With our online checklists, by phone, at our counters and offices, and at community organizations. With the bus, we’re making our assistance accessible to as many people as possible and bringing it closer to home.”
” We’ve noticed that the bus is an accessible way for people to ask questions ,” says Allaart Peeks, project manager of Tax Return Assistance at the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. “We can answer many general questions about income tax returns directly at the bus. For example, ‘I’ve submitted my tax return, but I want to make some changes. Is that possible?’, ‘I became a widow last year and I don’t know what that means for my return,’ or ‘I recently became self-employed and I’m not sure if I’m now considered an entrepreneur for income tax purposes.’ For more specific questions or help with filing their tax return, we refer people to local help centers or one of the resources available. We’ve already helped many people with the bus in recent years, and we’re looking forward to doing so again this year.”
