The Municipality of The Hague will make €250,000 available per year for the next four years to support cultural institutions in developing their entrepreneurship. With this subsidy, institutions can invest in additional knowledge, skills or equipment to strengthen their organization for the future. The maximum subsidy per application is €40,000. The scheme runs from 2025 to 2028 and is open immediately.
Alderman Saskia Bruines (Culture): “It is incredibly important that cultural institutions can continue to develop and strengthen themselves with a view to the future . Not only in the artistic and creative field, but also in the management of their organization and in the business field. With this subsidy, institutions can invest in, for example, developing a fundraising strategy or purchasing a software system to work more efficiently. This will strengthen The Hague’s cultural institutions for the long term.”
Investing in the future-proofing of the cultural sector
The previous scheme for stimulating cultural entrepreneurship expired at the end of 2024. Since 2020, more than €1,000,000 has been invested in the development of the cultural sector. The new scheme has been adjusted on a number of points. For example, for an application of more than €10,000, an applicant must pay at least 25% of the project costs themselves. For applications above €20,000, a more detailed substantiation of the project is required, such as a market survey or a cost-benefit analysis. This ensures that applicants have a good plan ready that contributes to the chance of success of their project.
Applications can be submitted throughout the year, as long as there is budget available. Applicants can contact infocultuur@denhaag.nl with questions or to discuss a project . All conditions for this scheme can be found here . (in Dutch)
