The Hague Night Pact was officially launched during a festive gathering earlier this week. This collaboration between the municipality of The Hague and various catering establishments contributes to a safe and inclusive nightlife culture in the city. Alderman Saskia Bruines (Culture and Economic Development) signed the Night Pact together with catering entrepreneurs.

Working together for a safer night

The Hague Night Pact is the result of the Night Vision, an action plan to give The Hague’s nightlife a boost. By signing the Night Pact, hospitality entrepreneurs show that they are committed to a safe and inclusive nightlife. They do this, among other things, by having clear house rules and publishing them clearly. The participating parties also have their staff follow Safer Clubbing training courses. These training courses offer tools to act de-escalating in unwanted situations and to prevent these situations. In this way, they create a socially safe and inclusive place for the nightlife public.

Alderman Saskia Bruines (Culture and Economic Development): “Together with night culture and hospitality entrepreneurs, we are strongly committed to The Hague’s nightlife. This also includes attention to social safety and accessibility. By signing the Hague Night Pact, we as a municipality and entrepreneurs jointly express what we stand for. A great collaboration and an important basis for the further flourishing of The Hague’s night culture.”

A vibrant and welcoming nightlife

With the Hague Night Pact, hospitality businesses show that they welcome everyone, regardless of gender or gender identity. With a clear door policy, clear rules and staff that is trained to respond appropriately to undesirable behavior. By working together, we jointly ensure a hospitable and safe nightlife for everyone.

Alderman Mariëlle Vavier (Inclusion) emphasizes the importance of an inclusive nightlife: “With the Hague Night Pact, we are taking an important step towards a more inclusive nightlife in The Hague. We can only achieve a vibrant nightlife in The Hague if everyone feels welcome and can be themselves. This collaboration contributes to a city where discrimination and transgressive behavior have no place.”
