Het Nutshuis has decided to join Greenbookings as a unique location in The Hague, thereby jointly taking a concrete step towards sustainable entrepreneurship and greater environmental awareness.

Sustainable events industry as a goal
More than 2% of all CO2 emissions on earth are caused by the events and meeting industry and the associated travel movements. This can and must change, according to Greenbookings. The vision of this foundation is therefore to make the events and meeting industry in the Netherlands permanently more sustainable. The goal is to plant at least 250,000 trees per year worldwide from 2026, together with all affiliated locations, in order to compensate for part of these CO2 emissions.

Online system for sustainability
Locations affiliated with Greenbookings work together via an online system. This system calculates directly how many trees can be planted with 0.5% of the booking amount per event or meeting. Both the location and the booker are given the opportunity to make an additional contribution in addition to this amount.

Het Nutshuis: A sustainable meeting and event location
Het Nutshuis is a popular iconic and versatile location for meetings and events. “We want to be as sustainable as possible and are taking concrete steps to achieve this. One of the steps we have taken this new year is to collaborate with Greenbookings. This means that for every confirmed booking, a tree is planted on behalf of Het Nutshuis and one on behalf of the booker. This way, our emissions are compensated. We also offer bookers and visitors the option to also have a tree planted, which is an important step in reducing the ecological footprint. Without making concessions to the environment, we can continue to receive our guests” – Niels van Iwaarden, manager Het Nutshuis (left in the photo).

Greenbookings is proud of the collaboration with this consciously operating event location. “It is fantastic to see that Het Nutshuis wants to serve as an example for other event locations in The Hague. They have taken the initiative to plant at least two trees for every booking: one on behalf of the client and one on behalf of Het Nutshuis itself. This shows that sustainability is really high on the agenda at Het Nutshuis and that is great. That is why we are super proud that they have joined us. Thanks to this collaboration, organizers can increasingly select locations in the Netherlands that are connected to Greenbookings” – Fabian van Beek, Greenbookings (right in the photo).
