The Zuid-hollands Symfonie Orkest (ZSO), a local amateur orchestra which performs to a high standard and featuring a mix of Dutch and expat musicians, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary with a festive concert and afterparty on Saturday 15th November at 19:00 in De Regentes, Weimarstraat 63, 2562 GR Den Haag.
The concert will have an American theme, featuring two very well known works originating in the USA in the late 19th and early 20th centuries respectively.
Before the interval the orchestra will perform Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 (“From the New World”), which the Czech composer wrote in 1893 whilst director of the National Conservatory of Music of America in New York.
After the interval there will be a joint performance of the orchestra with the Dario Fo Choir, together with soprano Shanice Skinner and baritone Roy van Vugt, of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess – A Concert of Songs. This is a sequence of the main songs from the opera, originally composed in 1934-5, featuring Summertime, It Ain’t Necessarily So, I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin, and many more.
Tickets are €20 in the presale (€22.50 on the door), €9 for children. The discount code for the presale is ZSO25! (including the exclamation mark) via this link:
