On Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., Theater De Regentes will present a colorful and festive dance performance in honour of Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Dance schools from The Hague and Amsterdam join forces in the performance Jyoti, taking the audience on a journey into the story of the stolen light from the temple. Along an exciting path through various Indian dance styles, the light is eventually found again.
A festival of light and dance
Diwali is one of the most important celebrations in the Hindu tradition and symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. The festival is celebrated worldwide and is also a cherished moment of togetherness in the Netherlands. The performance Jyoti seamlessly connects to this and serves as an invitation to celebrate this festival together—regardless of background or age.
