This year, the coffee shop is celebrating this milestone with a week of celebrations from December 8th to 14th, filled with treats for everyone who has made the business so successful. From coffee deals to sweet surprises, every day offers something to look forward to. For owner Peter Koerten, the anniversary feels primarily like a moment to reflect on the people who have walked through their doors over the years. “We’ve been around for ten years thanks to our guests,” says Peter. “This week is meant to thank them.” The week of celebrations ends with a bang: on Sunday, December 14th, every visitor receives a free cappuccino on the house.

During its anniversary week, Doppio surprises its guests with something different every day. The week kicks off on Monday with a nod to its origins: the first coffee will cost the same as it did ten years ago. In the days that follow, a series of little extras will be offered, inviting you to stop by, like a free cannoli with the first coffee of the day on Tuesday or an Italian break with coffee and cake on Saturday. Sunday marks the closing of the celebration: visitors will receive a free solo cappuccino on the house all day long. Ten years of Doppio Espresso The Hague
The same entrepreneur has been behind the coffee shop for ten years: Peter, who once traded his job in insurance for the dream of owning his own coffee shop. His love for coffee was always there. For years, he secretly graded the coffee he received on his way to customers. A ritual that ultimately led to the decision to start pouring quality coffee himself. That step marked the beginning of a neighborhood spot that has become an integral part of ‘De Fred’.
What began as a leap into the unknown has grown in the years that followed into a business run by familiar faces and regular customers. His daughters, aged sixteen and nineteen, now also work in the business, and the eldest dreams of continuing the business with him someday. “That makes this anniversary extra special,” says Peter. “We built it together, with my family, our team, and the guests who have been starting their day here for years.”
