KM@NIGHT x PLAZA & Inter-City

The museum evening for a new generation

After two successful editions, KM@NIGHT returns on Friday, May 22. This time, Kunstmuseum Den Haag joins forces with The Hague record label PLAZA and the new The Hague cultural park Inter-City, spanning over 8,000 m².

The program is linked to the exhibition Base Line – Music Meets Art and centers around the accompanying album release, the presentation of the workshop series accompanying the exhibition London Calling, and various other programming, co-curated by PLAZA and Inter-City.

Contrast

The album Contrast brings together musicians from The Hague, including Mula B, rriddimm, Yucky, and TeePee. Inspired by themes or artworks from the Base Line exhibition, they have each created a track. In addition, the artists have used samples from the museum’s archives, bringing sounds back to life.In the exhibition, worlds of visual art and music come together, and the museum shows a selection from its special collection of musical instruments for the first time in years. With this record, the Kunstmuseum breathes new life into a tradition of music production, as previously done with the exhibition Glans en Geluk (2018/19) and Met veel tam-tam from 1971.

About KM@NIGHT

KM@NIGHT is anything but a classic museum night. No whispering in silent halls, but creative energy, music, meeting people, and new perspectives. Come with your bestie, sister, neighbor, or that nice ex, join in Paint & Sip, and experience art together. Each edition centers around a current exhibition and is organized with a cultural or social partner from the city. With KM@NIGHT, Kunstmuseum Den Haag targets a new generation of museum visitors. The evening format actively engages young adults with art, provides space for new voices, and establishes lasting connections with creative partners from the city. In this way, the museum becomes not only a place to view art, but also an accessible location for dialogue, imagination, and enjoyment. With this initiative, the Kunstmuseum and Rabobank aim to continue engaging young visitors in particular and strengthen the museum as a place for art, encounter, and social exchange.

KM@NIGHT is made possible in part by Rabobank Region The Hague.
