Saturday 12 April at 11.00 am, the Residentie Orkest presents the romantic, musical family performance Romeo and Juliet (6+) in Amare

In Shakespeare’s version, things certainly did not end well for the two young lovers, however this time the most famous love couple of all time experiences a well-deserved happy ending.

Sometimes it seems like the whole world is quarrelling. Romeo and Juliet know how annoying that is: ever since Shakespeare, things have been going wrong. Fortunately, the famous Russian composer Tchaikovsky took pity on the couple. Surely with his beautiful Fantasy Overture “Romeo and Juliet”, one automatically stops fighting? Then dancing and singing is much more fun, isn’t it? When everyone around you opposes each other, it is hard to see how you can still live together in harmony.

Romeo and Juliet shows in a delightful, romantic performance how important love and friendship are. And not only that: because the entire theatre has to cooperate for a happy ending, you get to know the famous love story from a completely different angle. Together with Romeo and Juliet you will choose a new ending – with beautiful music, sweet songs, humour, and of course lots of love.

Conductor: Sander Teepen, direction: Caecilia Thunissen, text: Sanne Schuhmacher, actors: Amy van der Weerden and Jacob de Groot, arranger/composer participation parts: Thomas Beijer.

This performance was developed by Oorkaan i.c.w. the Royal Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
