Top Gun Day
May 13 is known internationally as Top Gun Day. Fans celebrate this day by watching the movie, wearing bomber jackets and sunglasses, and sharing quotes. Although the original film premiered on May 16, 1986, May 13 was mistakenly listed on the first movie posters, which contributed to the choice of this date.
Pathé Classics
The re-release of the two Top Gun films is part of Pathé Klassiekers: a program in which Pathé brings iconic films back to the big screen. This month is dedicated to remembrance, freedom, and courage, with impressive titles such as Zwartboek , Platoon , and Hacksaw Ridge . These themes align with important days of remembrance in the Netherlands, where the film experience has the power to connect and inspire.
Because the 40th anniversary makes this Top Gun Day extra special, Pathé is screening both titles back-to-back on Wednesday, May 13. Furthermore, starting Thursday, May 14, both Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick can be experienced in the special IMAX, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema formats.
